About Baseline

  • Baseline is an iPhone app with Home Screen widgets built around Apple Health data.
  • It helps you check readiness, sleep, HRV, steps, and activity at a glance.
  • All calculations are done on-device. No account is required.

FAQs

  • What does Baseline show?
Baseline shows readiness, sleep, HRV, steps, and activity using Apple Health data and widgets designed for quick check-ins.
  • How is readiness calculated?
Readiness is based on sleep, heart rate variability (HRV), and resting heart rate compared with your personal baseline.
  • Why does the app say "Building baseline"?
Baseline needs enough recent Health data to build your personal baseline. After you have several valid days of data, readiness becomes more stable.
  • Why are some metrics missing?
Missing values usually mean Apple Health does not yet have enough data for that metric, or Baseline has not been granted permission to read it.
  • How do I enable Health access?
Open Baseline, allow Health permissions when prompted, then make sure sleep, HRV, resting heart rate, steps, active energy, and exercise time are enabled.
  • Why is the widget not updating?
Open the app once after granting Health access, wait for the latest data to load, then re-add the widget if needed. Widget refresh can also depend on iOS background refresh timing.
  • Why is my HRV unavailable?
HRV depends on Apple Health data from your device or Apple Watch. If Health has no recent HRV samples, Baseline cannot show a current HRV value.
  • Does Baseline sync my data to the cloud?
No. Baseline does not require an account and does not upload your personal health data to its own servers.
  • How do I remove my data?
Baseline stores its app state locally. You can revoke Health access in Apple Health or Settings, and deleting the app removes its local app data.

Known Issues

  • If widgets appear stale, open the app and let it finish refreshing after Health permissions are granted.
  • If sleep or readiness looks incomplete, check whether Apple Health has enough recent sleep, HRV, and resting heart rate data.
  • If a metric stays unavailable, confirm the related Health categories are enabled for Baseline.
