Privacy Policy

Baseline is an iOS app that helps you view readiness, sleep, heart rate variability (HRV), activity, workouts, and related widgets using Apple Health data.

Data We Read

  • Baseline reads health data only after you grant the corresponding Apple Health permissions.
  • Depending on the permissions you enable, this may include Sleep Analysis, Heart Rate Variability (SDNN), Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate, Step Count, Active Energy Burned, Apple Exercise Time, and Workouts.
  • This data is used to display metrics, build your personal baseline, calculate readiness and sleep summaries, show activity and workout details, and power in-app views and widgets.

Core On-Device Processing

  • Core readiness, health, workout, and widget calculations are performed on your device.
  • Core app features do not require a Baseline account or Baseline cloud service.
  • Baseline stores app state and derived summaries locally so the app and widgets can load quickly. The underlying health data remains managed by Apple Health.

Optional AI Insights

  • AI Insights is optional, off by default, and requires your explicit opt-in.
  • Only when you enable AI Insights and request an insight does Baseline send a minimized aggregate health and fitness summary to the Baseline backend, which runs on Supabase, and to OpenAI.
  • The summary may include derived readiness and data-quality scores, sleep aggregates, HRV, resting-heart-rate and heart-rate trends, activity totals, recent workout summaries, locale, timezone, and limited context needed to generate the requested insight.
  • Raw HealthKit samples, hourly sample arrays, precise location, GPS routes, HealthKit source names, and device names are not sent for AI Insights.
  • We also do not send your name, email address, Apple ID, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers to OpenAI for AI Insights.
  • AI Insights is provided for general wellness and training-recovery context. It is not medical advice and may be inaccurate.

Server Records and Retention

  • To provide AI Insights, verify subscription entitlement, enforce request limits, cache responses, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and monitor service cost, the Baseline backend may retain AI request and response records.
  • These records may include the minimized summary or its hash, generated insight JSON, hashed app-generated client identifiers, hashed App Store transaction identifiers, request status and type, provider request IDs, response latency, error status, token usage, estimated cost, and timestamps.
  • AI request and response records, hashed identifiers, and related operational diagnostic records are retained for no longer than 90 days after creation and are then deleted.
  • Disabling AI Insights stops new AI requests and clears locally cached AI content, but it does not by itself delete server records created by earlier requests.

Sharing and Third-Party Services

  • Baseline uses Apple system frameworks such as HealthKit and WidgetKit. Apple-managed processing is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
  • Supabase operates the optional AI Insights backend, and OpenAI generates the insight that you explicitly request.
  • Baseline does not sell personal data, share health or fitness data with advertisers, or use it for advertising, marketing, cross-app tracking, or data-broker sharing.
  • If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple through iOS system settings, Apple may process those diagnostics according to its own policies.

Your Choices and Deletion

  • You can change or revoke Health permissions at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.
  • You can remove locally stored Baseline data by deleting the app.
  • Use the deletion option in AI Insights settings to request deletion of AI Insights server records.
  • If the in-app deletion option is unavailable, email x_feedback@hotmail.com for assistance.

Children

Baseline is not directed to children under 13.

Security

Baseline relies on iOS security protections and uses data minimization, hashing, access controls, and limited retention for optional server processing.

Changes

We may update this page when the app or its data practices change. Material changes will be reflected here before or when they take effect.
