Privacy Policy (Baseline)
- Who we are:
Baseline is an iOS app that helps you view readiness, sleep, HRV, steps, activity, and related widgets using Apple Health data.
- Data we collect:
Baseline reads health data that you explicitly allow through Apple Health permissions. Depending on what you enable, this may include Sleep Analysis, Heart Rate Variability (SDNN), Resting Heart Rate, Step Count, Active Energy Burned, and Apple Exercise Time.
If you enable AI Insights and generate an insight, Baseline sends a minimized aggregate health and fitness summary to Baseline's backend and OpenAI. This summary may include derived readiness scores, data quality, sleep aggregates, HRV and resting heart rate trends, activity totals, recent workout summaries, locale, timezone, and related context needed to generate the insight.
- How we use data:
This data is used only to display your current metrics, build your personal baseline, calculate readiness and sleep-related summaries, and power in-app views and widgets.
AI Insights uses the minimized summary only to generate a general wellness and training recovery explanation for you. AI Insights output is not medical advice.
- Processing:
Baseline performs core readiness and widget calculations on-device. Core app features do not require an account or cloud service.
AI Insights is optional, off by default, and requires your explicit opt-in before any health summary is sent. Raw HealthKit samples are not sent for AI Insights.
- Storage & retention:
Baseline stores app state and derived summaries locally on your device so the app and widgets can load quickly. The underlying health data remains managed by Apple Health. You can remove local app data by deleting the app.
For AI Insights, Baseline's backend may retain request records, generated insight JSON, hashed app-generated client identifiers, hashed App Store transaction identifiers, status, provider request IDs, token usage, estimated cost, and timestamps for entitlement verification, request limits, caching, abuse prevention, debugging, and cost monitoring.
- Sharing:
Baseline does not sell your personal data and does not share your personal health data with advertisers. If you choose to share diagnostics with Apple through iOS system settings, Apple may process those diagnostics according to its own policies.
Baseline does not use health or fitness data for advertising, marketing, cross-app tracking, or data broker sharing.
- Third-party services:
Baseline relies on Apple system frameworks such as HealthKit and WidgetKit. Any Apple-managed processing is subject to Apple's terms and privacy policies.
Baseline uses Supabase to operate the AI Insights backend and OpenAI to generate AI Insights when you explicitly request that feature. Baseline does not send your name, email address, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, precise location, GPS routes, HealthKit source names, device names, or raw HealthKit samples to OpenAI for AI Insights.
- Permissions:
Health data is only read after you grant permission. You can change or revoke permissions at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
You can disable AI Insights in the app at any time. Disabling AI Insights stops new AI requests from being sent.
- Your choices:
You can stop health access by revoking permissions. You can stop optional Apple diagnostics through iOS settings. You can remove app data by deleting the app.
You can request deletion of AI Insights server records by contacting us at the email below. We may need information sufficient to locate the relevant app-generated identifier or App Store transaction record.
- Children:
Baseline is not directed to children under 13.
- Security:
Baseline relies on iOS security protections and keeps app data on-device where practical.
- Changes:
We may update this page when the app or data practices change. Material updates should be reflected here before or with release.
